Design principles guide how I build things. Clarity, purpose, restraint. Whether it's code, UI, or systems, the process is the same.
I'm interested in the overlap between design and code because that's where most interesting solutions live. When you understand how things work on multiple levels, you can build better tools.
Most tools do too much or not enough. I'm interested in building things that do one thing completely, with enough care that the details actually matter.

Design
Starting on paper to get ideas out before moving to software to refine. Purpose comes before polish - if something doesn't serve its function completely, the aesthetics don't matter yet. This applies whether it's an interface, a system, or a tool.
Development
Every part of a system matters to me. Code can be elegant but slow, or fast but impossible to work with. I'm interested in finding the balance between those competing priorities. It's about making trade-offs that keep the whole system functional.
